

NSS Special Camp at Motipura

NSS Unit, School of Technoloy (Sot), IT NU has organized a special camp of 7 days (27 th Jan 2020 to 2 nd Feb 2020) at Village Motipura, Dist: Gandhinagar with 45 students. Under the guidance of NSS Program officer Prof Tejal Upadhyay and NSS Program Coordinator Dr Bhavesh Parekh, NU. The purpose of the camp is: SWACHHTA ABHIYAN , AWARENESS ABOUT
GOVERNMENT POLICY AND Awareness about Higher EDUCATION.


Students were staying at village Rajpur which is 2 km away from the village Motipura, as Motipura is not having any facility to accommodate 50 students during winter days. There are two vehicles arranged for them for daily commuting to Motipura. After reaching Motipura, the students were introduced to the Sarpanch and some briefing about the village like the subarea of the village which was divided based on the cast and their population. Students got information about the brick formation process in the village after returning to Rajpur campsite a post-dinner meeting was held where groups were divided for work like servings food, toilet cleaning, seating arrangement, etc. `
A meeting was held in the morning where a group was formed. Each group was assigned with some work that was included BMI card making, information about waste segregation, various government scheme and flow charts having details about opportunities after 10th and 12th standard. At night the dinner were prepared by the students only.



Students visited Gujarat Vidhyapith where students were motivated by the speech,” what is NSS? “. Students were enlightened by getting more information about NSS. Visit Gujarat Vidhyapith was possible because of Nirml bhai patel. One team prepared a drama related to ‘VYASAN MUKTI’. That emotional act was performed in the presence of 350 to 400 people from the village. Students performed a folk music program called ‘LOK DAYRO’. Villagers were truly delighted because of the ‘LOK DAYRO



Few professors from Nirma university along with students visited every house and give points according to parameters like cleanliness waste segregation, and girl's education.Many games were arranged for all children of the village like lemon and spoon, musical chair, tug of war, etc.Villagers were awarded according to the points given by the professors and prizes were distributed to winners of the games and also rangoli and mehndi competition. Because of the last day some students also that day share some comedy stories, Gujarati ‘Chhapakaru’.





NSS Camp on Organic Farming
at Motipura

(25 April to 1st May 2022)
The theme for this camp was “PRAKRUTIK KHETI” with the motto of raising awareness about it among farmers and aspiring them to adopt the method of organic farming. Students were given a brief introduction about NSS, its history, and how NSS is
serving society by faculty and senior volunteers. The camp was inaugurated with the Dip Lighting ceremony by the guest of honor Mr. Nihal Bhai Patel- Sarpanch of Motipura. Volunteers visited different sections of Motipura village which were divided based on caste to know their culture and way of living.


Survey of Agricultural Land and Farming:
For implementing a good plan, ground information related to the subject is a must hence, a google form was created to get the various information like name, phone number, amount of agricultural land, crops being grown, number of crops per year, types of crop diseases, and types of fertilizers and pesticides being used. Volunteers were divided into several groups to carry out the survey. They got more than 80 responses from which analysis was done related to soil fertility and quality of their agricultural land.
Volunteers got an opportunity to visit sports campus of Gujarat Vidhyapith. They were welcomed by Mr. Jagdishchandra Savaliya, Dean of Physical Education & Sports Science - Gujarat Vidhyapith. He talked about the importance of sports and physical education which leads to a healthy lifestyle and gave some glimpse of Gandhiji’s life teaching moral values. Volunteers were amazed knowing that several coaches of the Indian Cricket Team had done their Ph.D. in Physical Education in Gujarat Vidhyapith and to see students living there following Gandhiji’s values and wearing Khadi.


Rally:
A rally was carried out showcasing posters of work done in every Saturday visit at Motipura by NSS unit, activities carried out in past camps, and extension activities of Nirma University on the account of the completion of 2 decades of Nirma University.
Collection of Soil Samples:
Students were ready to accept the task to collect soil samples by getting their hands dirty. They were divided into teams to get soil samples from all 4 directions of Motipura by actually using the instruments used by farmers. Before starting to get soil samples they were demonstrated a procedure to get appropriate samples. Volunteers had to take 5 to 6
samples from each direction to get a homogeneous soil sample i.e., it should not be taken near the tree or water flowing source. These soil samples were then sent for testing at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Randheja.

Preparation of various types of composts and fertilizers:
Volunteers accepted the challenge and get their hands dirty to prepare
various types of composts, fertilizers, and pesticides namely Nimastra,
Brahmastra, Javairlik, Fugnashak Dava, Ghan Jivamrut (Ladoo), Jal Amrut, Jeevamrut, and Bijamrut. For preparing all these things students worked hard to collect some rare items like cow dung cake, Gomutra, leaves of the neem tree, mustard oil, buttermilk, bean flour, neem fruit, andKadi Chuno. During this preparation, Dr. R. N. Patel – Director of the
Institute of Technology visited Motipura and appreciated the hard work ofthe volunteers.
Exhibition
It was the most crucial day for the entire team as the planning and work volunteers have done to date were to be implemented. In the exhibition volunteers creatively displayed all the collected organic seed samples with their nameplates. Along with the prepared composts, fertilizers, and pesticides, posters were displayed having their method of preparation, things, and the amount required for the same. In the evening all the village farmers visited the exhibition and volunteers gave information about the displayed seed samples.



NSS Camp on General Awarness
at Motipura

(6th to 12th May 2023)

Sports Awarness:
Various indoor and outdoor games were organized daily in the first half of the day so that the village students can become familiar with all the sports.

Cooking :
Homemade cakes and how to bake without using microwave was prime focus. Villagers were taught about how to cook new and western continental food at home with easily available ingridients.


Drawing Competition:
Volunteers organized drawing competition for all the village students and they were very much enthusiastic towards this event. We has participants about more than 30 students.

Cleaning :
The Chauraha of the Village Motipura was cleaned throughout by the volunteers. This also motivated the villagers to keep their surroundings clean and maintain hygiene.


Visit to Gram Bharti along with Villagers of Motipura:
All the farmers were invited to visit Gram Bharti Village to provide them the basic knowledge regarding the seeds, insectisides, pesticides and why they should opt for organic farming practices.
Sight Seeing:
The Tower of Sadra District and the very infamous but beautiful fort of Sadra were visited by all the volunteers. Also the Pedhamali Village and Sapteswar Mahadev Temple were also visted.


NSS Camp on Water Conservation

(20th to 26th January 2024)

A 7-days camp was held by NSS_SoT of Nirma University near Rajpur village on the bank of Sabarmati river in tent city.The camp was held from 20th January to 26th January of 2024. The aim of this camp was “Water Conservation”.
DAY : 1 (INTRODUCTION TO VILLAGE)​

After doing the Ganesh Pooja, we left Nirma for the camp. After we reached the camp site, Bindu ma'am welcomed us very sweetly. We interact with all 50 students as well as the whole staff of the camp site.

Then the Sarpanch of the village came there to meet us and to brief us about the whole village.

Then we left the camp site and reached village. All 50 students were divided into 6-7 groups and visited different housing clusters. The Sarpanch and the villagers welcomed us very sweetly.
-
In short, we visited the village and interacted with all the villagers on the very first day.


DAY : 2 (SURVEY)
-
On the second day, as per the first day's groups, the students went to the allotted housing cluster and did a survey of each and every house. The survey was about the Ayushman card, the number of males and females in the house,about animals, and moreover, about the taps in the house and the arrangement of waste water in the houses.

Then there was the huge occasion of the Ram Mandir Inauguration the other day. So all the students did the creative work, like hangings to decorate the campsite.
​DAY: 3 (Broom Making, Cleanliness Drive and further work in village)

In the morning, Parthesh sir taught us to make brooms. All 50 students were divided into teams, and a total of 15 brooms were made by all students. Then, using those brooms, we cleaned the Rajpur village. Thereafter, all students watched the Ram Mandir inauguration in the village's government school.

Then we went to the village, and in our allotted housing cluster, we did the survey again precisely: "Did they want the taps? Did they want soak pits?" etc., and we took all the measurements in feet to join the taps, make the soak pits, and to join the pipe lines.


DAY: 4 (Sports, Expert Lecture, and Meetings)

On this day, all students went to Motipura village. All students played with the children of that village, interacted with them, taught them, and much more. In Motipura, we also saw drone farming.

After lunch, we had a very good expert with us, Tejas sir. Tejas sir gave us a very important and beautiful lesson about youth and the pollution we're making nowadyas.

Then we had another meeting with Sarpanch and Talati ma'am. We all discussed the condition of the water in the village, and we came up with many solutions to protect the villagers from malariya or other diseases caused by the waste water.

Then we learned about the plumbing work needed to implement it in the village.
DAY: 5 (Health Check-Up, School Initiatives and survey)

On this day, we went to Motipura for a "health awareness camp." We went with a medical team that had a dentist, Phisio and more. In this camp, we checked the height,weight, BP, and more. Along with that, we also helped the villagers make their Ayushman cards.

We also gave the photos of the scientist to the village's school.

On the other hand, the survey was going on smoothly. We took the number of taps we needed,the number of soak pits we needed to make, and all other information.

Then we had a very good lecture taken by Deepak Teraiya sir on the mother, motherhood, and NSS.


​DAY: 6 (Pipe Line Repair and Rangoli)

On this day, all the students worked from 9 to 1 and 3 to 7. All students gave their best in the village work. All students went to their allotted housing cluster and joined the taps. the connection of supply water pipe lines to gutter water pipe lines. They made the soak pits, too.

Along with that, the students made rangoli on the theme of "water conservation" in the school.

All the villagers were so happy to see taps in their houses. They encouraged as well as thanked all the students.
DAY : 7 (Flag Hoisting, Drama, and Project Completion)
-
This was the last day of our camp. On the occasion of Republic Day, all students and villagers came to the school for flag hoisting. On this day, in front of all the villagers, some of the 50 students did the drama on "Water Conservation" for awareness.

And after that event, all 50 students again go for the remaining work in the village. At last, all the students went to each and every house again to watch all the work.
